the winter of 1973 from his home in Northwest Washington,
DC., Duku Warren Allen began the manufacture, wholesale and
retail of "Duku's Scentuals," a line of hand-made
incense and perfume oils.
That Spring
of 1974, manufacturing and wholesale operations were moved
to a rental space at 2826 Georgia Avenue, Northwest Washington,
DC. |
In 1977 the retailing of herbs, spices, herbal preparations
and books were added. The building was purchased in 1982.
The support and success of the retail store has made it possible
to acquire another building next door, which is now Blue Nile
Books. The bookstore features books on metaphysics, traditional
African religions, astrology, world religions, etceteras.
